Privacy policy

PoolBuff is operated by Henry Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company. It is responsible for the personal information described on this page, and "we" and "us" here mean Henry Labs LLC.

We collect as little as we can get away with. We do not sell personal data, we do not run cross-site advertising trackers, and the only thing we ask you for is an email address, and only if you want the newsletter.

This page describes what happens in practice. It is written to be read, not to be technically survivable in court, and where the two conflict we have chosen readable.

Newsletter subscribers: your email address, the date you subscribed and which page you subscribed from. That is it. We use it to send the newsletter and nothing else.

Contact form: your name, email address, chosen topic and message, so we can reply to you.

Analytics: none. No analytics service runs on this site, so we do not count page views or record where readers come from. Cookies and local storage, below, says what would change if one were ever added.

Server logs: standard web server logs including IP address and user agent, retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not use third-party tracking pixels for behavioral advertising. We do not require an account to read anything on this site.

We do not put any content behind an email wall. The calculators, guides and checklists are free and do not ask for your address first.

The site sets no cookies at all. It stores six things in your own browser: your light or dark theme preference, whether you want the calculators in US or metric units, the tick state of any interactive checklist you have used, how far through a how-to guide’s steps you have got, the pool volume, surface and sanitizer you choose to save in a calculator, and, if you use the test log, your pool or hot tub details and the tests you save in it. Nothing is saved for the last two until you press a save button; the calculator’s “Forget it” link and the log’s delete links remove them. All six live entirely on your device, are never transmitted to us, and go when you clear site data. A copy of the log you save is a file downloaded to your own device.

No analytics runs on this site today. If that changes it will be a service that sets no cookies and counts page views without identifying anyone, and this page will name it.

Newsletter delivery is handled by an email service provider that stores subscriber addresses on our behalf. Contact form messages are delivered by an email provider. Both are bound by their own privacy terms and act as processors for us.

Affiliate links take you to third-party retailers. Once you leave PoolBuff, that retailer’s privacy policy applies, not ours.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any email, and that removes your address from our list immediately.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email the address below and we will action it — in practice this almost always means deleting one row containing an email address.

If you are in the EU, UK, California or another jurisdiction with statutory data rights, those rights apply and we honor them regardless of where you are.

This site is intended for adults responsible for a swimming pool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Privacy questions and data requests go to info@poolbuff.com, or by post to Henry Labs LLC, 5900 Balcones Drive STE 100, Austin, TX 78731. We answer them ourselves rather than routing them to a vendor.

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the newsletter.
